Sophia Ahmed, LGPC

Psychotherapist

Sophia Ahmed received her Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Villanova University and Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health from American University. During graduate school, she completed clinical internships at intensive outpatient and outpatient levels of care, serving individuals of all ages, families, and couples.

Sophia works with adolescents and adults presenting with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, panic, grief, post-traumatic stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, and identity development. She practices from the belief that all clients deserve person-centered, culturally humble, and trauma-informed care. Her therapeutic style draws from relational, psychodynamic, and attachment theory.

Sophia believes it is within relationships where someone feels safe, understood, believed, and supported that they can work through the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors standing between them and the life they desire. She hopes those she works with experience this in their therapeutic relationship. When they do not, it is equally important that they know she welcomes their feedback, as therapy is collaborative and expressions of what isn’t working are not only allowed, but encouraged.
