Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Jenna Califa is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who aims to provide compassionate, holistic, trauma-informed, and evidence-based care to individuals across the lifespan. She treats a wide range of mental health conditions, with a focus on anxiety, depression, ADHD, and women’s mental health. Her approach is patient-centered, culturally sensitive, and tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals.

As a Northern Virginia native, Jenna is passionate about serving and giving back to her local community. She brings experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, and values building long-term, trusting relationships with each of her patients. Her background includes psychiatric nursing at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where she had the privilege of supporting patients and families through some of their most difficult moments. In her current practice, she aims to take a holistic approach combining medication management with attention to lifestyle and other key factors that contribute to overall mental wellness.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biobehavioral Health from The Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Columbia University, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice with a focus in Psychiatry and Mental Health from The George Washington University. Her doctoral research focused on implementing mental health screenings for adolescent patients in primary care settings in the Northern Virginia area.

Clinically, she has experience across a range of settings, including inpatient care at INOVA and various outpatient practices, serving diverse patient populations. She remains committed to integrating her academic background and hands-on experience to deliver thoughtful, evidence-based care for patients and their families.

In her free time, she enjoys going for walks with her black lab Luna, playing volleyball, baking, and trying out new coffee shops with friends or family.
