He graduated with his M.D. from Yale School of Medicine in 2015 and completed his residency in Adult Psychiatry in 2019 at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He completed a clinical fellowship at UCSF in behavioral immunology, where he studied autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders. While at UCSF, he also spent seven years in the bipolar specialty clinic.

He serves as a consultation provider for Healthy Foundations Group for adults with complex medical comorbidities, particularly those with known or suspected autoimmune and neuroimmune disorders. Dr. Bartley also provides consultations for patients with bipolar disorder.
Clinical Consultation Process
Consultations are spread over two 1-hour appointments. Prior to the first consultation, Dr. Bartley requests and reviews the patient’s complete medical record. The initial appointment is used to gather additional history and, for patients seen in person, to perform a physical examination.
Family members and loved ones are encouraged to attend to provide additional historical context. The second consultation typically occurs 2–6 weeks later and is used to deliver a comprehensive case formulation and detailed recommendations. At the patient’s request, a formal letter outlining Dr. Bartley’s assessment and recommendations can be provided to the patient’s primary treating clinician.
Academic & Research Contributions
Dr. Bartley is an active physician-scientist whose work focuses on the intersection of psychiatry, neurology, immunology, and autoantibody-mediated brain disease. His research has contributed to a growing understanding of how immune dysregulation and autoantibodies can produce complex neuropsychiatric syndromes.
