Carrie Sullivan

Advanced Year Therapist

Carrie is in her advanced year of the Master’s of Clinical Social Work program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and is completing her clinical internship at Healthy Foundations Group/The Heartwood Program under the supervision of Laudan Moghadam, Ph.D., LCSW-C.

In Carrie’s foundation year, she interned at a wellness center at a high school in the Montgomery County Public School system, where she gained valuable experience in a school-based setting and had the opportunity to work directly with adolescents.

Carrie has followed a unique path toward becoming a Psychotherapist.  After twenty-plus years working in the television industry, including Creative Director positions at Oxygen and Warner Bros. Discovery, Carrie decided to follow her heart and pursue a career in mental health. This decision was largely influenced by her experiences supporting colleagues and friends through personal and professional life challenges. And navigating her own. One of Carrie’s goals is to use her clinical knowledge and expertise, along with her two decades of professional experience, to provide mental health and wellness support for busy professionals, who so desperately need it.

Carrie is dedicated to supporting clients struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, life change, interpersonal relationships, career struggles, and the stress that comes from navigating today’s complex social and cultural climate.  The approach Carrie applies to promote healing combines a psychodynamic perspective with cognitive, behavioral, and holistic modalities.  Carrie’s specific interests include Internal Family Systems (IFS,) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT,) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT,) and Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT.)

Carrie’s therapeutic philosophy is one of grace, acceptance, and compassion, with the ever-present goal of helping her clients learn to be kind to themselves. In building a professional therapeutic relationship with her clients, Carrie hopes to guide them in exploring themselves and their patterns and support their development of healthier, more empowering ways forward.
